Hi, thank you for choosing Acumen Consulting INC to fix your system, I am writing you this to inform you about a few things. I have installed some very useful spyware removal tools that i STRONGLY suggest using very frequently, at least once a week. Please follow these simple instructions to insure that none of this happens again.
Here are links to download software:
1. Double click "Ad-Aware SE Personal" on your desktop to start the application.
2. (Please perform this step every other time you scan to make sure AdWare is up-to-date) Click the underlined button titled "Check for updates now" right next to "Status ok Ad-Aware SE initialized" and then "Connect" to make Adware check for the latest definitions via lavasoft's update servers. (NOTE: this only works if you are connected to the Internet) If it fails, or it says you have the latest updates proceed anyway, either their servers are down momentarily or you don't need a update. After the definitions have updated, or when it displays a message click "Ok" and proceed with step 3.
3. Click "Start" in the lower right hand portion of the application and then make sure you click "Preform smart system scan" under "Select a scan mode:" after that click "Next" in the right hand portion of the application to start the scan process, and wait for the scan to finish.
4. Once the scan process has finished, click the "Scan Summary" tab next to "Critical Objects" and "Negligible Objects" right above the list of threats, and click the check box next to "Critical Objects" to select everything AdWare found that was critical, if you want to delete "MRU" List's you can do that here as well by checking its box. After you have selected what you want AdWare to delete click "Next" in the bottom right hand portion of the application, when you do this AdWare will confirm how many files you will be removing from your system, when you see this confirm window click "Ok", after you have done this you can safely close AdWare and move onto "SpyBot Search & Destroy" (NOTE: If AdWare tells you to reboot, do so and continue to Working with Spybot after rebooting, if it tells you to reboot it usually wants to preform another scan when windows isn't running any programs, this raises the possibility of capturing spyware, if it preforms the scan at boot up just follow steps (3)-4)
1. Double click "Spybot - Search & Destroy" on your desktop and confirm the notices that *may* popup by clicking "OK" and proceed with step 2.
2. (As with AdWare please perform this step every other time you scan to make sure Spybot is up-to-date) Click "Search for Updates" after the search for updates has completed it will either say that there wasn't any updates found or it will display updates in the bottom white portion of the application window, if there are updates click check ALL of the boxes and click "Download Updates" in the upper portion of the application window to download and install the updates, as before, if this process fails do not panic, it is mostly because Spybot's update servers are down momentarily. Proceed with step 3.
3. Click "Search & Destroy" on the upper left hand portion of the application window and click "Check for Problems" after the scan has completed, spybot should automatically select all the boxes for you, but if it doesn't select all boxes and click "Fix selected problems" next to "Check for problems" and when the confirmation pops up to ask if you are sure click "Yes", after the problems have successfully been fixed click "Ok" at yet another confirm window and proceed with step 4. (NOTE: If you get a problem called DSO exploit you can safely ignore this problem, and don't worry about accidently deleting it. Also if you did not find any problems you can now close Spybot and proceed with Working with CWShredder)
4. Click "Recovery" on the left hand portion of the application window, check all boxes in the bottom white portion of the screen and click "Purge selected items" and then "Yes" at the confirmation window to delete the items from your computer permanently. Do NOT click "Recover selected items" they will install the spyware programs right back onto your system. After they have been purged close Spybot and proceed with Working with CWShredder.
1. Double click CWShredder on your desktop and click "I Agree" if the license agreement pops up then proceed with step 2.
2. Where it says "Move CWS files found to the Recycle Bin instead of deleting them" uncheck that box and click "Check For Update" if there is a update it will show a link in the upper portion of the application window if there is not it will say that there is no update needed. Proceed with step 3.
3. (WARNING: This step is going to close all Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player windows. Please save information before clicking "OK") When you are ready to scan click "Fix ->" and then "OK" when the confirmation pops up to start the scan. After the scan click "Next" and then "Exit". Proceed with Working with AVG
I am writing these instructions just incase you want to manually scan for virus's or you want to change the time AVG automatically scans for virus's, the current scheduled scan time is everyday at 9:00 PM. You do not have to worry about updating AVG because it is scheduled to update everyday at about 11:00 AM (but it always changes) you can change this schedule as well but i do not recommend it, it is a short process and only takes seconds. If the computer is not on when the scheduled tasks are suppose to take place they will automatically start on next computer power up.
1. Double click "AVG Anti-Virus" on your desktop
2. Click "Scan Computer" wait for the scan to finish and if you have any virus's it will walk you through what to do.
1. Double click "AVG Anti-Virus" on your desktop
2. In the white column portion of the window click "Test plan in Basic mode" and click "Edit Schedule" and you can change it to a time that you see fit.
Please inform all users of the computer about these instructions just incase somebody forgets, I know that having all those virus's and spyware on your system must of been a huge hassle. And hopefully it can stay the way you are receiving it. If you have any questions or comments please call or email me at:
