  1. open the new file
    1. open gimp
    2. open a new file, and select appropriate dimensions. 175 by 125 is a good slection.
  2. create the objects for the diagram
    1. for rectangles, select a rectangular region or for ovals, select an oval region
    2. edit stroke selection. 1 pixle, is a good width for the paint brush
    3. layer merge down
  3. put text in each object
    1. select text, click in the box, and write the label
    2. layer merge down
    3. repeate the previous steps for all boxes and ovals
  4. connect the objects with arrows
    1. filter, render, gfig
    2. draw lines to connect the boxes
    3. filter layer down to connect everything
    4. create edit paths, to create the triangular arrows
    5. fill region, to fill the triangles
    6. repeat until all figures are connected correctly
  5. Save the file as type png
    1. file save as
    2. enter name, select file type png
    3. choose maximum compression ration
